Within the framework of cooperation between the National Agency for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring (NAMEM) and the Korea Environment Corporation (K-eco), the installation of additional sensors for information technology-based automatic air quality monitoring stations has commenced in Ulaanbaatar and the centers of all 21 provinces in Mongolia in 2026.

In 2026, three new automatic air quality monitoring stations will be established in Ulaanbaatar. These stations will continuously monitor six air quality parameters—sulfur dioxide (SO₂), nitrogen oxides (NOₓ), PM2.5, PM10, carbon monoxide (CO), and ozone (O₃)—as well as meteorological parameters.

In addition, air quality monitoring sensors will be installed in the centers of Övörkhangai, Khovd, Khövsgöl, Orkhon, Darkhan-Uul, Dornod, Khentii, Ömnögovi, and Dornogovi provinces to measure the same six parameters: sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, PM2.5, PM10, carbon monoxide, and ozone.

For the centers of the remaining provinces, additional sensors will be installed to monitor four key air quality parameters: sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, PM2.5, and PM10.

Furthermore, each province will be provided with particulate matter sampling equipment for collecting air samples to support air quality monitoring and assessment.
