URBAN AND SETTLEMENT WEATHER FORECASTS NOW PROVIDED WITH HIGHER SHORT-TERM RESOLUTION
The National Agency for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring (NAMEM) has updated its 3-day weather forecasts for cities and settlements, reducing the temporal resolution from 12 hours to 3 hours.
This improvement is the result of upgrading high-performance computing systems and represents a significant step toward providing more detailed and user-oriented weather information.
Amid the increasing variability of weather due to climate change, with more pronounced daily and hourly fluctuations, this enhancement is especially important for planning activities highly sensitive to weather and climate impacts.
As a result, citizens and organizations can make more informed decisions based on finer-resolution forecasts. Sectors such as construction, transport, energy, agriculture, and tourism will be able to plan operations more precisely, thereby improving economic efficiency.
The system refinement and calibration work will continue through 2025.
