THE 18TH MONGOLIA–CHINA MEETING ON COOPERATION IN METEOROLOGICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY HELD

The 18th Meeting on Cooperation in Meteorological Science and Technology between Mongolia and China was held, led by Song Shanyun, Deputy Director of the China Meteorological Administration (CMA), and Zhao Laiming, Director of the Inner Mongolia Meteorological Administration.
The two sides agreed to strengthen collaboration over the next two years in nine areas, including sand and dust storm monitoring, satellite data use, weather forecasting, climate services, and specialist training.
To date, over 400 Mongolian experts have received training through CMA’s regional centers. This year, with CMA’s support, new and upgraded aerological stations were established in Umnugovi and Gobi-Altai aimags, significantly improving Mongolia’s climate monitoring capacity.
During the meeting, an AI-based server and software suite for the early detection of natural disasters were also handed over, marking a key step in advancing Mongolia’s meteorological technology.
